Prefolds

Example:  Cotton Prefolds

  • The modern equivalent of terry flats
  • Rectangle, but with extra layers in the middle for extra absorbency
  • Various folds can be used
  • Done up with pins or a snappi; or laid inside a nicely fitting cover
  • Need a liner (if desired) and a cover
  • Great for newborns, as they have lots of changes and are cheap, but aren’t as absorbent as most fitteds
  • Useful later, as they can be used to boost or stuff fitted or pocket nappies, or for spares
